The Dress Code

The PUP College of Law currently imposes a dress code on all its law students. All male law students must wear either a barong of any kind or a long sleeves polo with neck tie paired with slacks and leather shoes. As for females, any upper garment with collar will do. Actually I am not really sure about the girls because I'm a guy.

The new dean of the college started to implement this as soon as he assumed the office of the dean last year. He patterned it I guess from San Sebastian Institute of Law's dress code as he was also a professor of law of said school.

While this rule is not being strictly implemented by the security guards at the entrance, still all law students abide by it as some professors call the attention of those not in proper attire.

So you cannot differentiate now a professor from a law sudent.

  1. Hello to the author of this blog! =)

Thank you for all the information you post about PUP Law. Am sorry, I do not know where to post my question, so I will post it here.

I would like to ask if you also know the schedule of classes? I want to study law but it is in conflict with my work. I hope the classes are conducted at night.

    Thank you so much.

  2. Hi Meg,

No problem posting your question here.

Classes are usually conducted at night during weekdays and whole day during Saturdays.

Most of the College's students are working students and that includes me. I don't see any problem if you are working unless you are not allowed by your office to leave at 5pm because classes start at 6pm during weekdays. =)

I am a fresh graduate from another school. I want to apply at PUP College of Law but the online registration is already closed. I would like to ask some questions.

First, when will the entrance examination for 2012-2013 start?

second, how much is the approximate cost of studying at PUP Law?

Ill be be thankful if you answer my questions. :)

  5. Hi,

1.) Application for this first semester (2011-2012) is already over. However, you may apply next second semester of this academic year (2011-2012). The College is accepting applicants every semester. For the academic year 2012-2013, entrance examinations for first semester are usually held around February and April (2 batches).

2.) 500 per unit plus 1,000 miscellaneous fees. See my post regarding tuition fees for details.

    Thank you for asking.

  6. Thanks nexttomarquis for the reply.

    I have another two questions.

When will the exam for 2nd semester start? and what is the maximum number of units for every semester?

    Thank you very much!

    ReplyDelete
  7. From what I know, applications for second semester may be entertained around September because enrolment will start by mid-October.

Maximum number of units is around 18-20 units per semester depending on your subjects. Minimum is around 12 units. (I will be posting soon the curriculum with number of units)

  9. Hi I would like to ask if PUP-COL is accepting transferees? I am taking up my first year second semester at Adamson, I find Adu okay except that I am paying around 25k per semester. Since Adu and PUP-COL appears to have almost the same passing rate,it figures why I wish to transfer to PUP (10k vs. 25k tuition fee for almost the same school's passing rate). Thanks!

  14. Sir,

I passed the PUPCLEE and I'm all set to enroll but the schedule of classes is in conflict with my work as I leave our office in Ayala usually at 7pm. Do students have the option to take classes during Saturdays alone? Do you have a way to take 4 subjects (12 units) during Saturdays (2 classes in the morning and another 2 in the afternoon)? Thanks much!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes you have that option. it is up to you to choose the schedule o0f subjects that fits your time for as long as you enroll the minimum units. Not all freshmen are full time students so they are allowed to choose only their preferred subjects. Congrats by the way!

      Delete
    2. Thanks! I called PUP Law, they advised me that it seems impossible for me to take all classes during Saturdays alone. A student needs to take at least 12 units/sem. That would mean at least 12 hours/per week. I still hope that I can squeeze in 12 hours of classroom studies every Saturday. Thanks again.

  17. Sir I want to take PUPCLET this 2012 for second semester, when is the possible date of registration? And also I want to know if how many minimum units is allowed to be taken by the student.I will be a working student and I am planning to start with 2 subjects only.Is that possible? thank you..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, that will not be possible. You have to enroll at least 4 or 5 subjects in order to arrive at the minimum required number of units allowed to be enrolled, i.e. 12 units per semester; and you still have to pass a certain percentage of that in order to stay in the College.

Registration is around September or October. Classes normally commence around November.

  19. Sir, I'm just curious. I'm currently enrolled in PUP GS and I was inspired by our Professor, Dr. Seril about law and stuff. Anyway, I would like to take law after my GS studies. My question is, is it possible? I'll be waiting for your kind response. Thanks in Advance.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, that is absolutely possible. Some law students in PUP-COL are holders of masters degree. Whatever post graduate course you have, for as long as you are a holder of a bachelors degree, then you are qualified to take up law.

  22. Good day.

    I have questions.

    1. I'm planning to transfer school, i want to know if PUP law will credit my previous subject that i took up? what if i have a failing grade from my first year? because i've heard that PUP law does not accept/credit subjects if a student has a failing grade in any subjects (so i need to repeat 1st yr).. is it true? I'm planning to transfer on second sem (Oct 2012 or next school year 2013-2014) since what i've read in previous post that PUP Law accepts 2nd sem transferee.

    2. usually, the weekday class start on what time?? in my current school, it has 3pm/4pm/5pm (depending on the prof) which is the reason why i am transferring. I can only leave my office at 5pm or (4-4:30 if i have a 5pm class; which i need to tell my boss to consider my situation.)

    3. Also, im a working student and our company has uniform. can i ask for exemption for uniform requirement? because i have no time to change uniform.

can i have a copy of curriculum so i can plan my subject?

    rabaguio@gmail.com

    Thanks in advance

    1. Sorry I may not be able to post the current or updated curriculum for now because mine is for 2008 which was already revised several times after a change of different deans transpired, but the changes were only in so far as the few "elective" subjects are concerned. Curriculum for bachelor of laws is almost the same in every law school because that is a standard prescribed by CHED. Law schools only differ in their "electives".

    2. Hi, I'm from Palawan and currently I'm taking up law here. However, I'm planning to pursue my studies there Manila. I'm quite worried beacause of ever I will transfer there, some of the subjects I took here will not be credited. Our current curriculum here is the same with Arellano University but I want to enroll in PUP. Can you send me at hazeljardinico@yahoo.com the current curriculum of PUP so that I can compare it thankyou! :)

  27. Hello Blogger, May I know kung ano oras ang schedule ng mga classes sa PUP Law? Saka, kung pwde malaman ung curriculum nila para makapag advance study. Thanks.

Mr. Blogger, can I get in touch with you via email? My email is maverick@live.com.ph

  28. Schedule of classes are usually nighttime during weekdays from 6pm onwards and whole day of Saturday. For incoming freshmen, the major subjects for first semester are Constitutional Law 1, Criminal Law 1 (Book1 of the Revised Penal Code) and Persons and Family Relations (Book1 of the New Civil Code). If you really want to make an advance study, read anything about these or at least their codal provisions which you may find over the internet including notes on these uploaded by different students of other law schools.
